Rachel Bilson Launches Edie Rose Home For Macy's

Rachel Bilson is back at designing for her Edie Rose line! Instead of clothing, however, she's designing tableware for Macy's. I have to say it seemed a little random, but apparently Rachel has been collecting dishes since she was a young girl. Who knew?

Explaining why she decided to start the line, Rachel says, "I was on what seemed like an endless search for really cute dishware and tabletop items when I thought it would be fun to design what I was looking for. I have a passion for dishes and thought it would be a great opportunity to design exactly what I wanted -- cute and stylish entertaining and dining ware that is affordable."

The line is aimed "to appeal to the modern woman at various stages of her life, whether she is going off to college, decorating her first apartment, registering for her wedding or simply in need of beautiful items for her home." The pieces range in price from $12-58 and are meant to be mixed and matched. Every piece reflects Rachel's love of "birds, butterflies and all things whimsical," and the entire collection is tied together by a common color palette of turquoise, aqua, black and white.

What does Macy's think of line? “Edie Rose Home reflects a timely aesthetic that appeals to the fashion savvy Macy’s customer,” said Steve Cardino, vice president and fashion director of Macy’s Home Store. “We are proud to be the exclusive retailer of this eclectic and affordable collection that infuses Rachel’s eye for style with everyday pieces for the home.”

Well, Macy's definitely sound supportive. And the line looks promising, but I'll have to wait and see. As most of my friends know, after living with so many for so many years, peacocks have become my least favorite animal on the planet so featuring them in the line is a bit of a turnoff, but even I have to admit the piece below is actually pretty cute.

2011 SAG Awards: Best Dressed

I was really loving the fashion at the SAG Awards. Many of the ladies really stepped up their game and pulled out some real showstoppers. Strapless, floor-length gowns were definitely the trend of the night, as were the colors red, white, and nude. Belted waists were also big. Hair and makeup-wise, we saw a lot of gorgeous tousled waves, smokey eyes, and nude lips. I have to say, I'm absolutely loving these trends!

 #1 - Mila Kunis - Alexander McQueen
Definitely the best look of the night!! Mila looks absolutely amazing and so fierce in this fiery gown accompanied by flawless hair and makeup. By far, my favorite gown of any awards show this year.

 #2 - Julia Stiles - Monique Lhuillier
Julia looks head-to-toe gorgeous! The ombre gown is killer stunning and her hair, makeup, and accessories are perfect.

#3 - Tina Fey - Oscar de la Renta
Definitely the best Tina has ever looked! I absolutely adore the woman, but she usually doesn't have the best sense of style on the red carpet. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was when I saw her in his stunning gown. So loving this color on her.

 #4 - Hilary Swank - Versace
Hilary looks like a Greek goddess in this gorgeous gown. I love the draping, details, and color. Plus, her hair looks amazing!

 #5 - Heather Morris - Romona Keveza
Heather looks oh so pretty in this flowy and feathery (but not too feathery) gown! I love how soft the whole look is.

#6 - Lea Michele - Oscar de la Renta
Lea tries again with Oscar de la Renta and this time scores! This gown is so gorgeous and sleek (although I don't know why she insists on showing so much cleavage). She does look like she's trying too hard/constipated though. Smile, girl, you don't want to get Megan Fox-face.

 #7 - Natalie Portman - Azzaro
Much better than her Golden Globes look, this dress perfectly flatters her baby bump. I'm not a huge fan of her hair or her black handbag and shoes, but I'm so relieved there's no giant flower on her chest, I'll let it slide.

 #8 - Rosario Dawson - J. Mendel
What an amazing color on her! This dress is so lovely and I love her choice in accessories!

 #9 - Claire Danes - Louis Vuitton
She looks so sweet and pretty, and I like the risk she took in choosing a dress with a print.

#10 - Valerie Bertinelli
Great hair, great makeup, great dress. I honestly can't believe this woman is over 50, she looks fabulous.

2011 SAG Awards: Worst Dressed

For this awards show, I decided to post the Worst Dressed list first. Figured I'd get the bad/blah out of the way first. As always, comment and let me know if you agree or disagree!

#10 - Jenna Fischer - Fendi
I like her makeup, but the dress is simply too boring and shapeless (a common problem of the night).

#9 - Edie Falco - Carolina Herrera
Once again, I like the makeup and there's nothing particular wrong with the dress, it just suffers from being a bit blah and underwhelming.

#8 - Angie Harmon - Monique Lhuillier
I actually love this pink color with her skintone but the whole thing is just a little too much, too young, and too feathery. Plus, it brings to mind images of Bjork and that's never a good thing.

#7 - Helena Bonham Carter - Marc Jacobs
A HUGE improvement over the Golden Globes! And she's actually wearing matching shoes! Her intentionally bizarre style, however, still lands her on my worst dressed list.

#6 - Mariska Hargitay
She looks great from the neck up, but this purple gown is too simple, too shapeless, and too...blah.

#5 - Melissa Leo
This dress makes her look like a shiny robot... or an alien. The cut is not flattering to her figure at all and makes her appear boxy.

#4 - Kate Mara - Herve Leger by Max Azria
Here is a gown that seriously did not translate well off the runway. I love Herve Leger but this dress is almost hard to look at. Just no.

#3 - Christina Hendricks - L'Wren Scott
She looks like a vampire who just got out of bed and slipped on their bathrobe. The dress does nothing to flatter her curves and the makeup is way too severe.

#2 - Jane Lynch - Ali Rahimi
What is Jane doing in this horrible prom dress? The color looks great on her, but other than that, it looks cheap, odd, and in need of an ironing.

#1 - Paz de la Huerta
Hands-down, worst look of the evening. I can't find anything redeeming about this outfit.

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is just around corner, and Kembrel (one of my current obsessions) has some AWESOME sales that would make perfect gifts for that special someone. I’ve already bought myself and my sister (who reads my blog so I’m not going to say what) two necklaces, and I’m definitely forwarding the link to my boyfriend ;)

Here’s just a preview of what’s on sale:

GUYS
The Valentine’s Day essentials for guys offers a nice variety of items that will surely impress your man! Can he not go anywhere without his iPad? Get him a stylish Moshi iPad case! Does he love working out at the gym? What about a eco-friendly Hydros water bottle? Is he always late picking you up on a date?  I’m sure a watch by Phosphor will solve that problem!

GIRLS
The Valentine’s Jewelry section made me drool.  From the exotic Taara pieces, the adorable One Luv necklaces, and the stunning selection by Juliet & Co, you won’t know where to start! I wouldn’t worry too much over what you choose for your girl though, because any of these pieces are sure to win her over!

GIRL or GUY
Or what about some sweet headphones? The ones on sale by WeSC are definitely unique and make a statement. I love all the different colors and patterns to choose from! Perfect for any music lover, girl or guy!

Finally, why not sit and enjoy a book together? Kembrel has a nice selection that range from funny to romantic. There’s really something for everyone. Read actual love letters collected across America or love poems written by some of history’s greatest poets. Spice up your love life with a handbook or read about the most inspiring and romantic locations in Italy and France. Even if you’re single, these are sure to be an interesting read (if you believe your true love is written up in the stars, why not check out Cosmic Coupling?)

Golden Globes: Worst Dressed List

So you all know who I think got it right at the Globes. Now, here's who I think needs to hire a new stylist (in no particular order because they're all tragic).
Christina Hendricks: That giant ruffle is SO distracting and unflattering.
Michelle Williams: Granny prints are not Globes-appropriate.
Helena Bonham Carter: This look is the epitome of "Hot Mess."
Lea Michelle: Reminds me of Pepto Bismol. Not a fan of her messy hair either.
Halle Berry: This dress screams cougar.
Julianne Moore: Someone get this woman an iron STAT!
Jennifer Love Hewitt: What is up with that neckline??
Kaley Cuoco: The odd tiering of the lower half of the dress is just wrong.
Agree/Disagree?? Did I leave someone out? Comment and give me your thoughts!

2011 Golden Globes: Best Dressed List

The Golden Globes have come and gone. You know my opinion when it comes to who won the awards, but who did I think ruled the red carpet? Like the People’s Choice Awards, I was a bit disappointed, but I do applaud many of the stars for their fashion risks. Did I like many of the fashion risks? No, but a lot of fashion “experts” did, and they ended up on many best dressed lists so good for them. But here’s my list of best dressed ladies, and it’s filled with what many might call “safe” choices, but whatever, it's my list and they look gorgeous to me. I've also included those who almost made the cut, but for one reason or another, just didn't quite do so.

#1 - Dianna Agron
I love everything about this look! Hair, dress, makeup, accessories, even the black nail polish! Dianna looks absolutely gorgeous, channeling old Hollywood in this J.Mendel gown! As one of my friends said, “She's just so perfect!” It’s so true.

#2 - Carrie Underwood
Carrie is always one of my favorites on the red carpet, and she once again looked fabulous in a quartz sequin strapless gown by Badgley Mischka Couture. She absolutely glows and what an amazing smile!

#3 - Sarah Hyland
I’m one of the few who don’t watch Modern Family so I don’t know who she is, but I absolutely adore this Café Au Lait Max Azria gown. It's so elegant, and the color is simply gorgeous on her. I wish I could steal this dress, I love it so much.

#3 – Mila Kunis
I am in love with the color of this emerald Vera Wang gown! Just stunning! She looks like a grecian goddess!

#4 – Megan Fox
Why does she look so pouty in all her pictures? It’s so unflattering, and she's very pretty. Nevertheless, I can’t deny that I love her pale pink Giorgio Armani Privé gown. If only she would smile and wear some less severe makeup, she'd look amazing.

#5 – Milla Jovovich
Underrated much? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone say anything about this gown, and I have NO idea why. It and Milla look stunning!

#6 – Olivia Wilde
The gown that’s on nearly every Best Dressed list. At first look, I thought it was too much, but I’ve actually come to like it. Plus with a gown by Marchesa, shoes by Christian Louboutin, and jewelry by Tiffany’s, how do you go wrong? Talk about the ultimate combination!

#7 – Helen Mirren
I sure do hope I have Helen's grace and style when I’m her age. She is just fabulous and the dress is beautiful. Flawless.

#9 - Kyra Sedgwick
Kyra looks so classy and elegant in this orange chiffon Emilio Pucci dress. I don’t know too many who could pull of this color, but she does so effortlessly.

#10 - Eva Longoria and Mandy Moore
I thought Eva looked very sophisticated in her black Zac Posen gown. It was very feminine but also strong at the same time. My one negative is that I feel there is a bit too much fabric at the bottom and it looks like its swallowing her. Mandy Moore wore one of my favorite designers, Monique Lhullier, and while her hair and makeup do look wonderful, there was just something off about the gown that kept this look from being higher on the list. I actually think i would've liked it a lot more if it had just been a deeper blue.

Close...But Not Quite (in no particular order)

 Emma Stone
Love the silhouette and simplicity of the gown, but not the color, at least on her skin tone. She still looks gorgeous and sophisticated, nevertheless.

Scarlett Johansson
This Ellie Saab dress is indeed beautiful (I love the detailed beading), but she’s single now, and I feel like she could have done better. I would have loved to see her wearing something bold and striking.

Sandra Bullock
The Marchesa dress is actually incredibly beautiful, but the hair is just horrible and distracts from its loveliness. Why, Sandra?

Amy Adams
I like the color, hair, and makeup. But there is something about that giant thing growing along her torso that I just don’t care for.

Nicole Kidman
Many thought this gown by Prada was too boring. Maybe a little, yes, but I do think she looks very elegant.

Natalie Portman
She is so pretty, but that big sequin rose plastered on her chest is not.

So that's my list, agree/disagree? Who did you like? Comment and let me know! Coming up: My WORST Dressed List!!

My Picks: 2011 Golden Globe Winners

Glee's Dianna Agron and Naya Rivera
Okay, now this is more like it! At least award-wise. It’s nice to see some amazing movies get the awards they deserve. None of this Twilight ridiculousness. I was so happy to see The Social Network dominating in nearly every movie category because it really was a fantastic film. However, I wouldn’t have minded seeing it share some of its awards with Inception or Black Swan, also two very well done films.

Best Motion Picture, Drama
Winner: The Social Network
My Pick: Quite a competitive category, but it’s a tie between The Social Network and Inception for me, but TSN does have Andrew Garfield…

I though the Best Musical or Comedy category was a joke. Most of the films were pretty 'eh' to me. Alice in Wonderland was very disappointing, and The Kids Are All Right was just…all right. Congrats to Red for being the first comic book movie to be nominated in the category though.

Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
Winner: The Kids Are All Right
My Pick: None of the nominees. I would choose Easy A for being a genuinely funny, smart film.

I pretty much would’ve been happy for whoever won Best Director, all were worthy nominees, although I do feel like Danny Boyle was snubbed for 127 Hours.

Best Dramatic Actor
Winner: Colin Firth, The King’s Speech
My Pick: James Franco, 127 Hours. I can't wait to see this riveting performance myself.

Best Dramatic Actress
Winner: Natalie Portman, Black Swan
My Pick: Natalie Portman, for sure!! I am so happy she won! Natalie's been a long-time favorite actress of mine, and I’m so happy her talent is finally being recognized! Congrats, girl!

Best Comedic Actress
Winner: Annette Bening, The Kids Are All Right
My Pick: Emma Stone, Easy A. Her performance was genius. She has a bright career ahead of her, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her in the new Spiderman films!

Best Supporting Dramatic Actor
Winner: Christian Bale, The Fighter
My Pick: I agree with Christian Bale, but once again there’s my love/obsession for Andrew Garfield…

Best Drama TV Series
Winner: Boardwalk Empire
My Pick: Haven’t actually seen Boardwalk Empire, but The Walking Dead was pretty awesome.

Best TV Drama Actor
Winner: Steve Buscemi, Boardwalk Empire
My Pick: Hugh Laurie, House. The show has let me down over the years, but Hugh never has.

Best Comedic TV Series
Winner: Glee
My Pick: 30 Rock or The Big Bang Theory. I do enjoy myself some Glee, but 30 Rock is sheer brilliance, and The Big Bang Theory was made for super nerds like me.

The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons
Best Comedic TV Actor
Winner: Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
My Pick: Competitive category filled with great performances, but I gotta agree here. Jim Parson’s Sheldon is absolute perfection!

Best Comedic TV Actress
Winner: Laura Linney, The Big C
My Pick: Tina Fey, 30 Rock. Because she's the most brilliant and funniest woman on TV. The end.

Best Supporting TV Actress
Winner: Jane Lynch, Glee
My Pick: Agreed, she’s hilarious!

Best Supporting TV Actor
Winner: Chris Colfer, Glee
My Pick: I agree. Chris Colfer has delivered some pretty powerful scenes this season on Glee, so I wasn't surprised when he took home the award. Congrats to him!
